Nordic Genetics Hampshire is characterized by excellent production traits that are especially important for a sire line. Hampshire has a high growth rate together with high feed conversion ability, which makes it a very cost efficient sire line. The breed is very robust and is therefore also very well suited in outdoor production.

Meat from Hampshire is of highest quality thanks to the RN-gene. In the living animal the RN-gene provides higher growth rate and increased meat content. Meat from animals with the RN gene is more juicy, tender and acidulous than that from non-carriers. The RN-allele is dominant, which means that also crosses will express the gene, regardless of allele from the mother. In Nordic Genetics population of Hampshire there is also boars without the RN-gene and for export, the preferred can be ordered.
